HAY X IKEA | Ypperlig Collection – The beauty of basics

First things first. I was giddy with excitement when I saw the initial announcement that HAY were collaborating with IKEA. So you can imagine my joy, along with all other design lovers, when I saw it. HAY designs within reach. Swoon!

Contemporary, architectural and functional. The magic of two Scandi-design brands colliding.

The Ypperlig collection celebrates the beauty of basic items from chairs and dining tables, to mirrors and candleholders.

Muted colourways and a combination of materials give this collection depth and an understated edge.

Built with truly accessible price points in mind, this collection was destined to tick all the boxes.

Here are my top picks from this new collection:

YPPERLIG chair with armrests, in/outdoor £40 – green and light grey

YPPERLIG shelving unit £85

YPPERLIG coffee table £35

YPPERLIG box with lid £3

YPPERLIG mirror £12

YPPERLIG candle holder £3

This forest green wall… heart-eyes!

One of my favourite aspects of the collection is the office. This paired back LED lamp, with touch control dimmer is a simple, yet uber stylish addition to the desk. Team it with the matte black stationery set and you’ve instantly got a winning combination to give desk envy to all!

Danish design company HAY was founded in Copenhagen, Denmark in 2002 by husband-and-wife duo Mette and Rolf Hay.

HAY focuses on creating furniture with an eye for modern living using sophisticated industrial manufacturing. The couple draw inspiration from places such as architecture, fashion and art, resulting in pieces that have a straightforward, functional and aesthetic design.

So my verdict… Winner! Having taken delivery of items from the range today, I can say, they live up to expectation.

Have you been lusting after Ypperlig too? Let me know your thoughts on this design collab.
